My current work, The Planet Series

The “Planet Series,” my latest body of work, contains interpretations of all the planets in our solar system as human figures. Each figure contains information from space as seen from the Hubble telescope.

Our new technology has brought home to us the vast landscape of space for the first time in human history. My work is a way for me to imagine this reality, and bring it down to human size. It is a way for me to inhabit these planets myself, and make human connection where there seems to be none.

Through references in form and subject matter to metaphysics, science, and healing, my past art has continually sought a sense of transcendence, a sense of the other beyond oneself. The medium of clay provides me with an exciting intelligence directly from nature.
